Sacred Games - A definite watch !!!

Could just finish watching Sacred Games (Netflix) a couple of days back. I must say one of the good (if not best) adaptations of a Thriller series I have been a witness to in recent time. Most importantly, its Netflix’s first Indian production which makes one just feel good about it.
The content, direction and the picturisation of the duo, Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, have been truly international. And with no doubt, when Anurag Kashyap and Nawazuddin Siddiqui come together, things like Gangs of Wasseypur, Raman Raghav and Sacred Games happens.

You can feel the creative freedom these directors have enjoyed creating a content like this for Online streaming wherein they don’t have to remember that Censor Board exists. I guess we would gradually be migrating to more of an Online Content viewer than going to a cinema hall in future, nevertheless.

Also in many parts of the series you would hear a background narrative of Nawazuddin Siddiqui which I must say also made a great impact in story-telling. Not only his acting skills but also his background narratives have started making impacts in cinema.

Just to conclude, for some it may not be groundbreaking show as far as taking the next step in the evolution of story-telling is concerned, but it’s sure as hell entertaining.

Would recommend a definite watch for this. Those who don’t have Netflix subscription can still opt for 1 months free trial and watch it; for others, it’s worth the penny spent.

Movie Review of Jab Harry Met Sejal... 2.5/5 !!!

Watched Jab Harry Met Sejal, first day last show … but truly a disappointment…. Had lot of expectations being a big banner release (Red Chillies Entertainment) wherein Sharukh himself had invested his bet, that too on Imtiaz Ali …. Unfortunately, a lost bet … Also, the BMS score says it all …

Anyways, just to add my 2 cents, the movie had a decent enough subject to build-on a good presentable story, most importantly with a good director being around … The movie is all about a man who apparently is a womanizer (and is proud to be one) and works in Europe (which again supported the story in terms of acceptability in the society) comes across a girl who is sweet, bubbly and most importantly BEAUTIFUL (apne language mein bolu tho ‘Gharelu’). They cross ways with each other and the rest is obvious. Don’t want to relay the script here hence would just say that it was a bold subject if had been presented smartly…

The movie had its own high points but very intermittently…. The only appreciable part is the presence of Shah Rukh and Anushka.. I being a movie buff, would watch any damn movie that too if need be with a dead sitting beside, however even I started feeling bored towards the end and wanted to rush back home…

The first half seems to be decent enough wherein you would enjoy the acting skills of Anushka and Mr Khan and that would keep you seated pleasantly… Anushka has acted decently and her Gujrati accent seemed to be sweet … At times I felt that she over-done her Gujrati role but wouldn’t blame her as this part has to be controlled by the director and not the actor …

However once both of them starts falling for each other, the plot is lost … First of all, trust me, I didn’t understood the reason why Anushka starts having a feeling for SRK as he doesn’t do anything as such that would ‘woo’ her and compel her to ditch her fiancĂ©… Moreover, there are certain scenes wherein Anushka herself says that she is a mean woman and is there only for her ring and not for anything else; and if such a women falls off her principles then there had to be strong reason which probably I couldn’t gauge …

The least expected was atleast a good music if not a good screenplay but again the director this time around apparently has skipped doing that hardwork in the Music section as well …. Except for the ‘Radha’ song, the Music direction as well seems to be below average …

Last but not the least, the whole movie being shot in Europe had to have a good picturization and cinematography however even that section didn’t appeal me much… Poor selection of colours made the filmography look average …

All in all, would rate this movie 2.5/5 … 0.5 extra for Anushka …
